Bad experience started with pre-op staff not having accurate notes from the pre-op visit that was mandatory before the pre-op during the actual surgery day. Nurse was confused as to why I didn't use the wipes that day since there was no note from previous visit that they never gave me them since I am breastfeeding (They also had incorrect history that they just copied and pasted from my last visit and they didn't submit their notes until about 10 pm the night before surgery so the surgery center had to call me to ask me the same questions that were asked during that visit). They also barely explained anything that they were doing to me and just did things to me without waiting for me to respond if it was okay for them to do it. One instance was after surgery a second nurse came in and she just shoved her hand in my gown and started taking the electrodes on my breast without asking me if she could reach in my shirt she also left me alone to walk back from the bathroom even though I was very groggy and slow. The anesthesiologist didn't seem well organized and walked off after mumbling something was wrong but not my concern. The pre-op nurse during day of surgery and anesthesiologist both just told me there was going to be a student and didn't ask me if it was okay for the anesthesiologist student to be there. No one told me my hands and feet were going to be strapped down and just started doing It without talking to me about it and then the anesthesiologist student Incorrectly put the oxygen/anesthesia mask on me while they were finishing strapping me down and I started to panic a little and the anesthesiologist tech yelled at me to take deep breaths Instead. (I thought they were supposed to ask if it was okay for student to be there and If it was okay If student did part of the procedure or at least Inform me If they were, also I was surprised they let student do it because when tech was asking student questions the student was giving half answers In a not confident at all manner). There was a delay in surgery but no one ever told me why and then they rushed me out after surgery since it had taken so long. They didn't let me finish the lactated ringers because they just wanted to discharge me since they were running behind even though I was really groggy and slow. The pre-op/post-up nurse sounded annoyed that I was having a hard time waking up after surgery. And then a second post-op nurse came in who just started taking off IV and electrodes without really letting me have a say and she was the one that left me alone when I went to the bathroom. She also tried coming in while I was still changing into my clothes after surgery because she only gave me like 2 mins before she tried coming in again and with the anesthesia I was really groggy and slow. They forgot to give me a nasal spray I was supposed to have 10 mins before surgery and never addressed it. They were more concerned about small talk than trying to explain things to me or asking me if it was okay to do things to me. The only person that was nice and made me feel comfortable was Diana from the front desk. The surgeon was fine too and checked in with me before surgery and called my husband to tell him how the surgery went. (The anesthesiologist saw him walking by when she was checking in with me since she left the curtain wide open and asked him to come check on me since I was here to which he politely told her he already had, it was awkward because the anesthesiologist sounded annoyed with him). The scanner for the medications wasn't working and I had random nurses coming in and out to try to fix it instead of just switching it out or taking it with them to fix it. Overall very uncomfortable, unorganized, delayed, and rushed experience.
I had tears of anxiety, tears because scared and tears because who wants to spend a day at any surgery center as a patient. I’m not normally one to do a review but this was absolutely necessary. I’ve had not one but two procedures done there so it’s not a coincidence. BOTH times I was there the staff ALL of the staff was AMAZING!!!!! They are there everyday for their job and were not at all desensitized to the feelings of the patient. They made me feel as if I was their only patient of the day. I trust them with my life. The nurses, the anesthesia team and Dr. Burke you guys are truly heros. Even though this is one little review I needed you to understand how important it was for me to write this so that you guys know that you are doing such an incredible job. I just can’t say enough I am I really can’t. And I’m not an easy person to have as a patient. I cry I get nervous I shake I ask a lot of questions I know that I can be a handful. But they didn’t treat me like I was, as a matter fact they were just extra gentle and I have to tell you that a doctors bedside manner to me it’s so important. I’m just so thankful that God blessed me to be put on their team. ♥️🙏
The Froedtert Medical System is a criminal organization. The bills don't stop coming, they don't match what the cost estimate says. $10k for an outpatient procedure.
