My friend went to the emergency room by ambulance confused and in a lot of pain, unable to walk. They ran tests. She was there for 8 hours before they hooked her up to fluids ... because we asked. They forgot. When the bag was empty they never replaced it. I could go on and on. When my husband had hip replacement last year they totally ignored or didn't look at his chart... He's type 2 diabetic and they fed him from the original menu until his A1C was so high they has to call his doctor and treat him aggressively for that.
Went in with sharp pains in my chest and not being able to breathe. Sat in the waiting room for over 4 hours. Asked the front desk about helping with my iv they told me it needed to stay...after waiting some more I pulled my iv out walked right by them and threw it in the trash and walked out. They chased me down and and told me I couldn't leave with the iv in my arm and they would have to call the cops on me. I'm still in pain but I would rather pass out walking home the stay there and be treated worse then the homeless who seemed to get better care then i
Prenatal care here is phenomenal! I was high risk with twins and ended up with preeclampsia. They took excellent care of me with visits every other week, listened to my concerns and made sure I had labor and delivery number. They let me know if I was ever concerned to just go to Labor and Delivery for a checkup. I did it 3 times before my waters broke at 33 weeks. Each time I went in, they calmed my nerves, showed me how everything was ok and ran tests. The delivery team was very kind and energetic! They helped me through my much needed c section since twin a was breech. It was terrifying thinking about it, but they made it quick and let me see my twins before they were taken to the NICU. They also made sure I was not in any pain. The worst part of the visit was actually in the postpartum recovery room. I was bleeding everywhere and had no assistance. There was a puddle of blood on the floor for 5 hrs that the nurses dismissed. The day shift nurses weren't very helpful but night shift took excellent care of me. They picked up the puddle of blood and made sure I was resting and on top of my meds. NICU is absolutely wonderful. The nurses there do care and it shows. They explain and explain again what is happening and why. They provide reassurance and comfort. The doctors alternate between Sacred Heart and Deaconess, although the overall vibe of the doctors at Deaconess was more relaxed and professional. They were very attentive to us with our stay. My twins are doing very well and thriving. I would 100% recommend Deaconess to anyone needing prenatal care, the labor & delivery or NICU. Since my son needed heart surgery (done at Sacred Heart and 1.5 week stay at their NICU), I can confidently say Deaconess is the best hospital in the Spokane area. My twins thriving is 100% linked to the quality of care at Deaconess. I should also note they will allow a tour of NICU at Deaconess if you are likely going to have to use it. Just have to ask. It was calming to be able to see it and how it runs. They also have a full staff of occupational and developmental therapists who are top tier for the NICU babies.
I was treated in the ER department for the worst knee pain I've ever experienced! For context, I've had my dislocated knee reset by a nurse friend of mine on a camping trip with no additional medical oversight and while it absolutely was an intense level of pain, this was still worse! I was shaking so hard my jaw hurt and I was sweating buckets. They gave me an appropriate level of pain management while in the hospital; so I'm grateful for that. They took an x-ray but refused an MRI image when I requested one. However an additional major oversight meant that instead of the pain medication being prescribed in a normal dosage it was written to me abnormally as 5-300 rather than a 5-325 and couldn't be filled. I then tried to call to have it corrected and was spoken to very disrespectfully and condescendingly by a woman named Michelle. She snapped at me telling me that my prescription wasn't written weird and that I couldn't just get a new one. I tried to explain the complication when she cuts me off with fine I'll have him send a new one but it probably won't be as strong and that's the last time I can help you. So now I'm overwhelmed and don't even know what she's sending, but after waiting another 4 hours for the pharmacy to get it, nothing comes through and turns out Michelle lied. I had to endure that night in absolute agony to the point my neighbors were coming to check on me cause my crying and shaking was so intense. So feeling out of options I had to go to Holy Family ER the next day where my experience was far far worse! If you can believe that. Finally I was able to speak to a much kinder lady named Stacie with deaconess who saw the prescription situation and fixed it right away without any issue. And so overall I'm glad the visit went ok-ish. But the denial of MRI imaging against request, the paperwork oversight, followed by the vicious victim blaming and verbal abuse from Michelle left me in a second full day of the worst pain I've ever endured and the emotional trauma of an ultimately futile second hospital visit to try and fix their mistake.
Gerald went in for a Inguinal Hernia surgery 8.8.2025 & it was a great experience for him! Dr Reese was very confident & caring in the treatment ... all the nurses & all who helped with this surgery were so kind to him! He was treated with excellent care at Deaconess! I highly recommend this medical facility for any surgeries you may need. A heart-felt thanks for your exceptional care.
