⸻ My experience at Virginia Mason Issaquah was a troubling example of what is wrong with our healthcare system today. It began at check-in. The receptionist asked if I had questions for the doctor. When I explained I was there for my annual checkup, she rudely told me that if I had questions, I would not be having my annual visit. I responded by asking how I was supposed to establish a relationship with a physician if I wasn’t allowed to ask questions. Without explanation, she abruptly stood up, grabbed paperwork, handed it to me, and said, “Fill this out because you have questions.” I told her I had already completed all paperwork online. She threw it down and told me to go sit down. A few minutes later, the medical assistant took me back and politely asked how my morning was going. I said it had been fine until I arrived. When I explained what had happened, she acknowledged that the receptionist should not have handled it that way. The doctor then came in and asked the same question. I gave the same response. The appointment itself was extremely brief and superficial. There was no meaningful attempt to get to know me, my history, or my concerns. It felt rushed and impersonal. I was then sent for blood work and dismissed. Two weeks passed with no results. When I called, I was told everything was available on MyChart. I explained that I had not signed up because I did not plan on returning. I was told the results would be mailed, but during that call they discovered both my address and phone number were incorrect. They said it would be fixed. Four weeks later, I still had not received anything. I called again and was told they had been trying to reach me to confirm my address—yet my address and phone number were still wrong in their system. This is completely unacceptable. Poor communication, incorrect records, dismissive staff behavior, and lack of basic follow-up resulted in a wasted annual insurance benefit and a deeply disappointing experience. I regret not reading the reviews beforehand. Be cautious if you choose to go here.

I have had a good experience in Bellevue and Issaquah, some drs of course are better than others, please search for the one you feel safe and comfortable speaking to with your health. Wish they could be open Saturday-maybe just half a day.

Why were the Doctor and his/her assistant not wearing a mask while in the exam room with me, given that we are in the midst of a covid wave? Why is the hospital only encouraging outpatients to wear a mask if they have a cold or fever while we are in the midst of a covid wave, given that SARS-cov2 can be spread by infected individuals who are asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic and there are such things as breakthrough infections, re-infections? This recommendation also stigmatizes those who choose to wear a mask even though they are not experiencing any symptoms.

I wish I could rate them as a zero! I was seen by an internal medicine doctor for a pap smear, ( who does a cognitive test for an appointment for a pap smear??!) and the two medical assistants who brought me back into a room and proceeded to perform a cognitive tests on me profiling me due to my age, without explaining to me that they were going to perform this test and that I had an option to decline it. I was trying to be complaint, but I should've refused!!They definitely violated my patient rights and when I protested to a patient relations person (on the phone and in writing) she was biased and mis-stated what I told her! I got a return letter stating the medical assistants did explain to me that they were performing a cognitive test, which was a blatant LIE!! Also, in the letter that "supposedly" the patient relations person investigated, she said the medical assistants stated I was a nurse which was wrong I did not state that!! There are so many errors, inconsistencies, and LIES by these people they should be ashamed of themselves being in the medical field. And now I am unable to get a hold of the patient Representatives person and on the complaint website I posted another complaint and nobody will return my message. Beware of this Clinic they are dishonest, condescending, unprofessional and unethical!! I am requesting to have the cognitive tests expunged from my records. I will NEVER go back.

Tues 15 Aug 2023 - 5 Stars NOTE that the name has changed. It is now "Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Pavillion" Tues 21 Feb 2023 - 5 Stars Another great appointment. Tues 25 Oct 2022 - 5 Stars I've been working with Dr John Roberts since 2000. He's a wonderful doctor who takes his time to explain everything going on. Coming from the Eastside of the state, I enjoy being able to see him in Issaquah rather than downtown Seattle.
