I had a good experience here. The nursing staff was very friendly and I felt like they took good care of me. No complaints at all on that end. The admin and front desk staff however are not up to par. I got a call the week before with my arrival time. The day before I get another call saying I was pushed back 2 hours due to a cancellation. Being pushed for a cancellation doesn’t make sense to me but whatever. Then day of I get a call just before my original time saying they were ready early and to come whenever I could. I get there, check in and wait. And wait. I had a herniated disc that made sitting excruciating so I was standing and pacing around the waiting room. I figured since they wanted us early we’d go back as soon as we got there. After 40 mins of waiting I ask someone at the desk. After another 10 mins of nothing someone finally came out and told us that I would actually be at my original time and they were late so it would be another hour. So we went on a walk for a bit, got back about 30 mins before they said to. Luckily I was called back just a few mins after arriving again. Waited in the back for another hour. It was almost 4 hours from arrival to going into surgery. While I’m in the OR, my wife is over hearing the front desk talking about me. They commented on my confusion about being pushing back due to a cancellation, my pacing in the room, they said I seemed very anxious and kept walking past the desk. Partly correct, I did think it would be quick, but I couldn’t sit at all so I was just walking. It feels very unprofessional to make such comments at all, let alone loudly enough that anyone in the waiting room can hear it.

We were over charged $400.00. Tried multiple times to fix the issue. Tried to blame it on a new billing process/company! Bunch of BS!!! Do NOT go here!

They failed to send me a bill for 18 months after the surgery and then threatened to send me to collections immediately. They blamed it on changing billing services. When I asked for evidence of notices sent they did not provide anything to me. When I asked them to send me record of what they had me paying so I could verify it against my records, they did not do so.

I'm surprised by the ratings for this surgical center. I just had plastic surgery yesterday. From the time I arrived to the time I left, they were ALL fantastic. The receptionist was so kind, she could tell I was nervous, and she calmed me right down. When I went back to pre-op, the lady who put in my IV was SO KIND, and i began to relax even more. The anesthesiologist was one of the best I've had. He explained EVERYTHING and answered every question. In the OR, I told him to please let me know everything you're doing and let me know before you start putting in the medication, and he did. He said, "I'm putting on your blood pressure cuff now, I'm putting this on your finger for your heart rate, and now we're ready to put in the medication. Are you ready?" I said "Let me take a few deep breathes, he said "Take your time, I'm right here with you, he grabbed my hand which was so kind and calming, and I said "OK, I'm ready" and I was out. He was EXCEPTIONAL. After surgery, I hadn't slept the night before because I had to be there at 5 a.m., and I was exhausted. I was out of surgery by 1 p.m. It was a 7 hour surgery, and they allowed me to sleep and wake up on my own. Which wasn't until 5:00 p.m. Once I was awake, they helped me every step of the way to get dressed, SO KIND, sweet, attentive. I've had several surgeries over the years, and this BY FAR was the best experience I've had. Every person I spoke to was calming, kind, and just incredible. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!

I had such a great experience here. The staff are all really friendly (and funny!) and keep it light-hearted, they do their absolute best to make you feel at ease and answer all of your questions. I felt like I got in and out quick too, which is always a plus. There’s not a lot of waiting time/being left in a room to ponder and get anxious either, which I loved. The staff (Nurses, Receptionist, My Doctor, The Anesthesiologists, etc.) were honestly really sweet and comforting and ready to help me with anything I needed. Such a great team here, and fantastic treatment as well. Thank you Riverwoods Surgery Center! ❤️
