Where to even begin! As a nurse for many years I was not expecting this level of outstanding care. I worked with many offices and surgeons and this was outstanding. From the greeter at the front desk, first floor, to Dr. Hartzler and his staff the entire experience was second to none. Every single person was kind, respectful, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I was cared for. Weeks later I had surgery and that team was equally as exceptional. Dr. Hartzler and Dr. Poku each came in and explained everything in detail and ensured both my husband and I understood everything and were at ease. The nurses were wonderful. Shanna was so patient with me and so sweet. I asked her about her job and she said she’s been there over a year and even she kept wondering when the “shoe would drop” thinking there was no way work could be this great, yet here she is and she said the staff are genuinely like this all the time. The lovely lady who greeted me when I went back to pre-op was hilarious and made me feel at ease (because I was incredibly late 🤦🏻‍♀️ and very nervous) 5 stars truly is not enough. Having been in San Antonio for 15 years, all in healthcare, I have to say that TSAOG should be the standard by which all other facilities compare themselves. I guarantee if they did, all healthcare in San Antonio would be exceptional!

I had a great experience at the San Antonio Orthopedic Group at the Ridgewood location. The facility is very professional, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish. Dr. Hartzler was attentive during every appointment and took the time to clearly explain what needed to be done to fix my shoulder surgically. What really stood out was that he even called me at home the evening after my surgery to check on me and see if I had any questions. That level of care and follow-up meant a lot and made me feel confident I was in great hands.

December 2025 I was experiencing some shoulder pain and went to see Dr Hartzler, who is associated with TSAOG. It was very easy to book an appointment. When I arrived, I was called back at my appointment time, the staff was very courteous and professional. Dr Hartzler or his PA, Jose Sigala, examined me and requested x-rays and an MRI. After reviewing the scan results, Dr Hartzler was very good about discussing the treatment options and answered all of my questions. I opted to have surgery and it was easily scheduled by Deirdra on his staff. On the day of my surgery, the staff took very good care of me. Dr. Hartzler did a follow-up call that evening to see how I was doing, and his staff scheduled my follow-up appointment. I would recommend Dr Hartzler for any of your surgical needs ranging in the areas of his expertise. He has excellent patient care and bedside management techniques. He also has some videos for any of the follow-up care that he may prescribe, making this approach and rehab steps easy, viewable, and understandable. I hope the next time you're looking for a surgeon to do some kind of shoulder or elbow surgery that you consider Dr. Hartzler and I hope your experience is as good as mine are better.
