First things first, the staff was super friendly, the facility was clean, and the process was simple. Now…..the billing side of things is elementary at best. I was a max out of pocket patient meaning insurance was taking care of everything. My doctor and staff were paid along with the surgery center. Bear Creek was paid but still attempted to collect 12k from me. After reviewing EOB’s, I realized they had been paid a significant amount money and related this to them. They claimed they had received no payment until I was able to get an insurance advocate involved who showed them in fact they were paid. Now there is an outstanding 3k bill for an “experimental” procedure lol. My insurance says it needs to simply be re-coded, and I’m guessing it is an act of congress to get this done. Long story short, I have been referred to collections, although numerous conversations have happened and requests for re-coding. I most likely will have to get an attorney involved to solve this problem for them. Even though the staff was phenomenal, I simply cannot recommend this surgery center!
I visited Bear Creek Surgery Center LLC for a second time for foot surgery on Friday, 11/15/2024. As in my first visit almost a year ago, I was totally impressed by all aspects of my experience. The facility itself is easy to find; parking is plentiful and convenient; and the reception and clinical areas are attractive and pristinely clean. The entire staff demonstrate professionalism, respect, courtesy, concern, efficiency, skill, and friendliness. Brandi greeted me warmly upon my arrival and got me checked in quickly; Amy took me back to my pre-op room, processed my paperwork, and inserted my IV painlessly; Dr. Paul Steinke visited with me to greet me and to confirm the procedure he'd be doing and answer any last-minute questions I had (more about him later); CJ, the surgical nurse introduced herself cheerfully; Dr. Bradley Oetman, my anesthesiologist, stopped by to meet me, explain the "cocktail" he'd be serving, and answer any questions; Victoria and Ashley took good care of me during my post-op recovery and saw me out to my car to return home with clear instructions on how to convalesce; then Becky called the following Monday to check on me to make sure I was doing well and to see if I had any questions. From start to finish, my experience was exceptional. Now, about Dr. Steinke: I have so much admiration, respect, and affection for this man. He's completely professional in everything he does; but more, he's knowledgeable, warm, intelligent, engaging, humble, friendly, and funny. He actually listens to you, responds patiently and openly, and puts you completely at ease about everything involved in his assessment and treatment. I can't say enough positive about him. I highly recommend both Dr. Steinke with Foot & Ankle Associates of North Texas (Keller & Grapevine offices) and Bear Creek Surgery Center LLC.
My 3 nurses from the day of my surgery were incredible. Shelly, Nikki, and Julie all went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and felt safe. I am incredibly grateful to all 3 of them, they made the experience so much better than previous surgeries I've had elsewhere. The anesthesiologist Dr De Fazio was great - he listened to my concerns openly - and was thorough in his explanations, and overall has great bedside manner as well. The staff here made a day that was terrifying for me much better, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Every staff member was very nice, professional, and comforting. Even before my surgery, they kept me informed on costs, what to expect, and made sure all my questions were answered. Even if the surgery time was moved by 15 minutes before my set date, they would call me. Once I was there, the nursing staff made sure I was comfortable and at ease. To make sure they had the correct foot, they asked me to put on a compression socks on the foot that was not going to be worked on. Every surgical team member came by to introduce themselves, explained their role, and verified the location and type of surgery. Once the surgery was over, they provided all the instructions to both myself and the person taking me home (my father). They also checked up on me the next day. I'm very impressed and would definitely and absolutely recommend this place. Absolutely nothing went wrong, everyone seemed very competent with their skills, and have great customer service.
One of the best of the best. This location is pretty awesome and has an amazing staff. They move fast, they're more than experienced, I mean. they're surgeons. Take a look at some of the pics I got from tonight's event. If you need a ligament surgeon, contact this location. And have you met Dr Steinke? He's that guy who keeps a smile on his face and gets your foot back in the right place. This location is clean, a great size, a few televisions for different views I'm sure, lots of parking, and did I mention a great staff. Make sure you speak with J.C ., Melissa, and Andrea I'd you're ever feeling down. They will bring you up.
