I recently had a two procedures in one done at this surgery center, and I can confidently say the experience was exceptional from start to finish. Both Dr. Jalloul and Dr. Olavarria took my symptoms seriously from the very first visit, and their skill and compassion made all the difference in my care. The entire nursing staff here was incredible—every person I encountered was kind, attentive, and made sure I felt informed and comfortable throughout the entire process. My post-op nurse, Heather, was truly heaven-sent and cared for me with so much patience and compassion. I am so grateful for the outstanding care I received. This experience has been life-changing, and I cannot thank this team enough for taking such wonderful care of me. Everyone I’ve room I went into seemed very clean.

Avoid Nicole Tapia MD for inguinal hernia multiple revision repairs. She operated on me in December 2023. Less than 12 days later, she performed the post-op exam and concluded verbally, in front of her medical resident, that she was either detecting a pocket of fat or a recurrence. I was too stunned to speak but later realized that she suggested a natural recurrence less than 12 days after I was on her surgical table. Furthermore, when I checked the exam notes in MyChart a month later, I saw that she omitted any mention of the physical exam and what she detected, and she concluded the operation was a complete success. This lack of integrity and accountability was immediately concerning. While my hernia pain is better than it was before the operation, there is still clear testicular discomfort, especially after lifting anything above 15lbs. Reasearch indicates that Tapia's specialty is colon excision, so I am at a loss as to why she is performing inguinal multiple revisions repairs. I might have pursued this, but then I was offered in Feb. 2024 a $17,000 bill from Methodist Hospital after the surgery because the hospital failed to execute the insurance documentation correctly. It took over 3 months to get that cost waived, and it was unnecessary stress that could have been avoided had MH executed the insurance paperwork correctly. Bottomline - before using MH Surgical Center, I would get an assurance from them in writing that all costs are covered by insurance. Additionally, and I cannot stress this enough, I would not recommend a multiple revision inguinal hernia repair from Nicole Tapia. I failed to ask her specialty and success rate before the operation, and a patient should never omit this question. Also - bear in mind that her official success rate is inaccurate - if she was dishonest on the results of my operation, she has likely been dishonest about the outcomes of other procedures. Many times I have thought about letting Aetna know so they can recover some of their funds from this operation in litigation.

Patient arrival at 6400 building has no wheelchairs readily available. If a single person has driven patient to hospital, it is very difficult to leave the patient in car, then go up to Medical office where appointment is scheduled, deposit your Drivers license to borrow a wheelchair and then go back down, load the patient on chair, leave them in lobby while you park your vehicle. All this time you have the threat of security trying to move your car out. This raises a number of issues regarding patient friendliness, patient safety and service quality. 1. The wheelcair process is simply unacceptable. Also, deposit of license.....surely some smart admin wrote this rule. Fire them!! 2. You customer service RANKD NO WHERE. Not a single smiling, warm helpful person so far....ranging from security to Reception. 3. US Healthcare now....ranks low globally. It is an illusion that it is num 1 in the worlds. Good for US public to believe that!!!

I cannot speak for patient care but I was extremely disappointed in the lack of updates for family. We are not currently allowed in the waiting room but I was told I would receive updates about my husband’s surgery which I received 0. I finally had to locate a phone number myself and call. This is inexcusable to leave family members in the dark and not communicate updates as expected. Since I called and complained, I am now getting recovery updates but there needs to be improvements made in family communication at this surgical center.

Fantastic care from start to finish. I had never had any surgery before and I was very nervous going into it even though I am a medical professional myself. I had a scope here in February 2018 and then a weight loss procedure a month later and both experiences in the MH Surgery Center were fantastic and exceeded my expectations! They made sure I was comfortable. They kept me calm even though my anxiety was high. They were so caring. I will always go here for surgery if I ever need another one!
