I had a Stapedectomy on November 25th and found the staff to be wonderful. From scheduling, billing, the nursing staff (Jessie, Charlotte, Michelle) to Anesthesiologist Dr. Renteria, OR team (Maria, Darwin) and Dr. Brian Rodgers, I can not say thank you enough for all your dedicated care.
My son had surgery today. Everyone was wonderful. The person who took care of billing for us was great. She was kind and answered all of our questions. The entire nursing staff, our Anesthesiologist and Dr Ehmer were excellent. We felt like we were in good hands. Thank you. I highly recommend this place.
The surgery center and personnel were great. Billing is horrible. I was overcharged by over $500. They will not respond to phone calls, emails, etc. I am going to put through a chargeback on my credit card if I don't hear back from anyone this week. It is really horrible. You can see the same issue with many of these reviews. Don't pay anything upfront, they will not refund the over payment.
My wife and I just had the most amazing experience here I had to post it for others to see. I needed to move up an appointment and my current provider was out of town for a month. My wife and I got same day colonoscopies due by age and found openings here for a Dr David Lee. The whole process from the first call was awesome and the staff from check in to checkout was beyond any medical experience we've ever had. My pre-op nurse Kirsten, OR Nurse Maria, Scrub Tech Sean, anesthesia Dr Rastagi, and recovery nurse Rani were all beyond professional and treated us like family members through the whole quick and painless process. We received pre-op estimates and insurance coverage info and got a follow up call from the Dr in person later the same day. This location definitely got it right and we appreciate the hard work by the Baylor Scott & White family here.
Update: Well it is not 6 weeks after my surgery where they overcharged me by over $500, and still no refund. After multiple phone calls and messages, I finally heard that the refund process has started (it will take ANOTHER 6-8 weeks before I receive it, following the current 6 week delay), but - here's the kicker - the refund will be almost $200 less than what they actually owe me as a refund, due to them "finding" a charge from 5 1/2 years ago that was alleged owed and not paid. There was NO attempt to collect that previous amount at the time, or I would have paid it then, or disputed it, if appropriate. Now I have no ability to dispute the charge, since I can not even access my health insurance or HSA/personal account charges from that time. What a bunch of crooks!!! I'll never go here again!!! Stay away!! I'll start out at 3 stars, but we'll see how long it takes to get my refund from them - I may revise this... The front desk folks are super pushy about getting their payment up-front, but they are unable/unwilling to provide any itemized estimate justifying the charges they are forcing you to pay. When I received my EOB 4 days after the surgery, it showed that they billed me over $500 more than allowed. I called them today, almost 2 1/2 weeks after the EOB was completed, and was told (without looking up my account details for verification) that it would be at least 2-3 more weeks before I would be refunded. (If it continues to drag on, I'll update this and drop my rating lower...) The front billing person, the day of the surgery, was rude and condescending - in addition to not being able to provide any documentation showing the itemization of the charges, I had to fill out a bunch more paperwork (similar to what they had already sent me, and I completed, online, and many items had to be duplicated on multiple pages/forms - terribly inefficient). And when I followed the instructions on those forms, apparently I did it wrong, and had to redo several parts of it - if the form doesn't say to fill it out a specific way, how can you expect someone to fill it out the way you want!?!? All that said, the nursing/care staff, both before and after the surgery, were FANTASTIC!! They just need to update their approach in the front office - streamline your forms, so they are all online, ensure they actually state how to fill the forms out (rather than expecting people to read your mind), and ensure you provide DETAILED/ITEMIZED estimates if you demand payment up-front (obviously they have this information, or they couldn't come up with the estimate to start with...)
