Criminal treatment when it comes to billing. They would not even file our claim with insurance before demanding nearly $4000 and refused to do the surgery despite our insistent pleas to file with insurance first. We have used other surgery centers in the past for other issues for our children and did not have this problem. Word of warning - do all you can to find a different surgery center. UPDATE - Still the worst experience we've had at a surgery center. Called to try to resolve issue and was lied to on the phone multiple times, including being accused of not confirming the appointment (which we did, because we received and completed all the paperwork). Also, in that paperwork we received contradictory information about how to prepare for the surgery compared to what the doctor sent, forcing us to call the doctor the night before to clarify. At the end of the day, because they refused to file with our insurance, they wound up overcharging us $500. Nothing about this experience as been positive.
From the online communications before my procedure through the follow-up call the day after, everything was seamlessly coordinated. I received compassionate, competent attention from all the nurses (John, Hope, Tiffany, Crystal, Stephanie, and Leslie (who also signed the card with Joan and Patrice on a thoughtful, little parting gift), and Pamela who made the follow-up call to see if I had any questions or concerns. I'd give Six Stars if allowed.
I had the same experience as a lot of people as far as billing. Basically misled about the total I owe. BUT! My appreciation for this team outweighs that. They ALL made me feel so so so so safe and light hearted from the front desk to the back for my first time going under anesthesia, which I was very nervous about. Even when figuring out my check out situation, nothing but compassion. And Dr. Slocum, my ob, and Dr. Young, the anesthesiologist, really have a way with things! Great people
If this wasn’t the surgery center referred by Dr Pernell’s office I would never step foot into this establishment. Due to billing department not being efficient I was blind sided by an unexpected payment of $500 that was not disclosed to me. Deanna in billing assumed that leaving a voicemail once was efficient notice. Also, How is it normal that you are not informed of how much the anesthesiologist bill will be in advanced and have the option to pay it up front. That in itself seems very much like a scam. I’ve had surgery before and I knew of all the expected costs up front including the anesthesiologist bill. If you have options do not come home here. They barely have 3 star review on Google now for a reason. Keep all receipts and be able to provide proof of payment. The staff from the front office and business administration are very unprofessional.
I had my procedure in 10-2021. Everything went well, nurses and doctors were great. Here is why I gave one star. I received my first bill from them 03-2023. I thought all my bills were paid from this procedure. I get a bill with a phone that only rings busy. I try other numbers and can not find where to talk to someone. A month later I receive another bill with the same $600.00 + amount, still no number to call to talk with someone. A month after that I receive a final notice saying that the amount is due now? It finally has a number and website to pay. I use my companies care advocate to contact them and we have a three way call because my insurance can not pay a bill that is two years old. I have all the money in my HRA to cover the amount but can’t use it to pay because it is too old. When the advocate asked if they would lower the amount because I will have to pay it all out of pocket they said No. I will not use this facility again, obviously the administration side is incompetent. I could not get away with this at my job. Luckily my gastroenterologist retired and my new one does not use this facility.
