Okay, this place is hit or miss. Who and what is good is REALLY good and what’s bad is pretty bad. THE GOOD: There is a lady on the 4th floor who works behind the registration counter. I wish I caught her name. African American lady and between my pre-op day and surgical day she had broken her wrist. That part is not relevant to the story but a way to describe her so that if those in supervisor roles see this they will know who it is. She was WONDERFUL. Very efficient and very kind. I was not the average person coming in bc I could not sit, could not stand, and could not walk without major assistance due to a severe herniated disc, hence the surgery. She was very understanding. The nurse that came and took me back the day of surgery (which was yesterday, June 9) was very good. Her name was Todu or Tolu. Not exactly sure but I liked her. She was very concerned with my condition and did not treat me like it was an inconvenience as she could have. She had to do a few things differently than she would have to with most patients and she was nice about it. Also, there was a shift change before I was discharged and the nurse who took me down was great. Did not catch her name but she was an African American lady with longer straight hair and we talked about both of us living in the same suburban town just outside of Nashville. She was great. Also, the rooms are super nice. That was a lovely surprise for my daughter. And they give you plenty of time to come out of recovery. The last place was trying to put my clothes on me and sit me up while I was still half sedated which made me vomit over and over. That did not happen today which I believe was due to them not trying to shove me out the door. THE BAD: They struggle with time. And when I say “they” I don’t really know who or what is at the root of it but it’s an issue. If your appointment time for pre-op OR surgery is X, just go ahead and mentally add 30 minutes to that bc that is what time it REALLY will be. This was especially hard for me bc of the really strange positions I had to hold myself in. If I could have sat in a chair like a regular person it wouldn’t have been AS bad but, 30-45 minutes in the positions I had to hold myself in were excruciating. The other: the Valet guy. AWFUL. I don’t know how to express how horrible this man is. Ok pre-op day he said these things to my daughter who was driving me. He was giving her a direction through the rolled down window about something and when she repeated it back to him to clarify she heard it correctly he said, “I told you already” and then said to her, “You need to chill out.” He did not realize I was lying down in the back seat. I heard everything and she did not at any point in time sound abrupt or speak inappropriately to him. It was quite busy that day and HE was the one who was clearly over stimulated and disgruntled. Then, yesterday, when we pulled up again, my daughter got out of the car to come open the back seat door for me and he glared at her from across the valet lanes and made no attempt to say anything or come retrieve the vehicle, so, she took me in and then went and parked the car herself. He’s the reason this is only a 3-star review. And bc he was our first impression of the whole place, it just started off badly. Thankfully, the good parts, managed to salvage it to a degree.
This is a surgery center, NOT a hospital. I am here with a neighbor. Her doctors stuck their head in for 15 seconds, said all went well, would not stay to answer any questions. There is no food available in this building, you must walk 2 blocks outside to the cafeteria at the real hospital. I was in her room from 11 AM to 6PM and not the first person said anything to me. I was taught in medicine to respect the family as well as the patient. It is almost 7:00 PM and no one has come in this room yet. I’m glad you all had good experiences, but ours so far is unacceptable. Also was told while at cafeteria to buy a meal voucher and call a number for a tray. I did and was told they can’t do family meal trays anymore due to Covid. REALLY! So far, this place sucks.
Cannot say enough about the staff from receptionist, preop, surgeons, anesthesiologist, spinal monitor, and nurses. It was by far one of the best medical experiences I have ever had. My room was huge. My nurses were Lora Lee, Mary and Christina. I was treated very well and they were very attentive to my needs. I would highly suggest this service.
I could never say enough about the people or the facility. I had back surgery on 10/12/23 it was without a doubt the best experience I’ve had for surgery. Angela was my nurse and she was a true blessing. I have never been treated so good by everyone. The room was huge and I had a beautiful view . I will definitely come back for any further needs I have .
My entire surgical experience was great. The hospital is clean and comfortable, and extremely quiet! My room was ENORMOUS!! It was the best medical experience I've ever had. All the nurses were great. Darlene took care of me overnight, and I don't have enough nice words to say about her. She's a special person and I was so grateful that she was there to look after me. I will recommend this hospital to everyone. God bless you all!
