My surgeon removed a bad cataract and did the laser surgery. Doing it again on Monday the 11th. Everyone was very helpful and talked to me and talked me down because, I am a very Anxious person
The staff is discourtious to caregivers. They don't let you back and you would think that meant more communication. I am seriously concerned for my patient. There's a snow storm and they had me queing at the patient pickup for 40 mins causing others to queue behind me. The one time I went in someone from surgery said he had just got done. I asked why did they call me a half hour ago? They had the procedure girl come out, who obviously knew the least, and she blamed us for asking to have the things on his eyelids removed. She also argued with me about my concern for the other patients leaving that had to walk farther in the slop after surgery. They put the patient fresh out of the OR with light sedation directly in the car with no discharge instructions for the caregiver. Horrible. The shield they had fell off shortly after leaving. He's telling me that something is pulling at his eye and hurting. I have no knowledge of how long he was out, if I can feed him, when the bandages should come off, if I'm supposed to get the 4 doses of meds in today yet? Turns out they had tape holding his lids together under the bandage that was what was pulling. He was able to tell me it took longer due to more tissue needing to be removed than expected and he had a graft which neither of us knew about? Absolutely most unprofessional surgical experience ever. I understand covid measures, but there are these nifty communication devices they make these days. These people took advantage of their authority to keep the caregiver out.

Capital Surgery Center (CSC) has very limited customer/patient policies. They provide the equipment for Eye Operations (I had YAG surgery) to the ophthalmologists and the plastic surgeons on either side of their office. They appear to be competent in this regard. I was told by my doctor's office prior to my expensive surgery that I could pay in installments. When I arrived for surgery , I was told by CSC that this required approval and was "not their policy" and they were not affiliated with Schein Ernst Mishra Eye. The person who could do this was "on vacation" so I had to speak with the schmuck who was left behind. He compromised and we went on. Procedure was performed by doctor (of course not affiliated with CSC) and went well. I was given an Rx for some drops but was told that CSC would not call these into my pharmacy. It was "not their policy". I have limited mobility and this small little thing always helps. This is the first center I have encountered that does not do this. They offered no alternative. I walked next door on my own volition to my doctor and they called it in for me. CSC is certainly no replacement for the other sites that accommodate eye surgeries. Substandard services. I am hoping they at least keep their equipment sterile. Even though CSC maintains that they are separate from the Ophthalmologist office, while I was there with my wife, one of the Schein Ernst Mishra doctors conducted a tour for the Chamber of Commerce explaining to them what the surgery center does. Expect a bare bones operation that is conveniently "not affiliated" with anyone but will bill your insurance for what little it does do.
