Billing is atrociously bad. Overbilling by 5x what I was told by insurance company AND at the center! Also ignoring multiple requests NOT to text me!
Dr, Schroeder repaired my ruptured achilles tendon. He was exceptional and thorough in assessment, surgery, and post-surgery. His team was thoughtful and caring and they had phenomenal recommendations on physical therapy experts in the surrounding area for me. While it’s a slow recover injury and one I wish upon no one, if you find yourself needing a surgeon for an Achilles - look no further than Dr. Schroeder. I’m happy to report the sense of normalcy I feel having returned to sport and exercise after having my doubts immediately following my injury.
I had surgery here in Sept 2023 and the process day of was good. Check in was easy and staff was pretty nice. I was discharged pretty quickly post-surgery though which was a bit odd to me. They require you to pre-pay an inflated estimate for your procedure. I also had an issue with getting my insurance company to approve the charges which was strange to me as I have had the same insurance for 8 years, had multiple surgeries the last 3 years and have never had an issue. The supporting assistant, surgeon and anesthesia which all bill on their own processed without error, but it took me MONTHS battling insurance and trying to get help from OR Surgery center to get this processed. Every time I call the billing department they are rude as heck and annoyed to speak with you. Meanwhile, my insurance company keeps rejecting it because they are sending statements that show blank or unable to be opened. I wound up having to self submit with my insurance for the first time ever and it took until Feb 2024 to get this paid. During the battle, my insurance company called the surgery center multiple times to request them to not bill me $300 a month while they sorted out payment, and the surgery center would agree with the insurance rep every time, but they continued to charge me anyway, while I was out of work on short term leave. I also had one of the RUDEST people speak to my rep that was assigned to my case from my insurance company and myself 3 months in of trying to solve this. She spoke down to her, acted like she was doing us a favor, couldn't give us a clear timeline of when they would be able to resend the bill, only offered to mail it (even though when I called again and got someone different they confirmed they can digitally send it too), and was irritated we asked any questions at all. The day of will go fine, but the months and months of calling them to try to resolve any issues makes it not worth it! They also included a code on my super bill that the anesthesiologist had already billed for which seems shady to me. The front desk staff and the nurses working were kind and helpful, but the department that helps you after.....RUNNN.
Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center used OutcomeMD to track my symptoms before and during treatment. My Knee score has improved to 91 from a baseline of 37. Thank you Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center team for your exceptional care that helped me achieve such a great outcome!
We had a great experience with OOSC today. My spouse was there for a minor podiatry surgery, and I was nervous and unsure of what to expect. Gina, the pre-op nurse, was wonderful and spent five minutes helping us look for my spouse's nose ring when we dropped it on the ground. The anesthesiologist was caring and answered all our questions. The staff kept me updated on my spouse's progress the entire time, and when my spouse woke up I was allowed to sit with them while we went over post-op care instructions. Amanda, my spouse's post-op nurse, was wonderful, so kind and gentle with my groggy spouse and helpful with all my questions. When she helped my spouse into the car, she gave them some very reassuring and caring words. We will likely be back in a month for a second surgery, and I will be much less nervous knowing that my spouse will receive excellent care here.
