If it is important to you or your loved one to be accompanied before or after surgery, Roseburg Surgery Center is not for you. You will go back by yourself and you will wake up absent your loved one’s. My wife asked for me 5 times and they kept saying he’s in the waiting room, we will get you to him shortly. I didn’t see her again till told to go around the side where they wheel her out of the building and give care instructions as you are moving your loved one’s to the car. It’s their policy, go ahead ask.

I had a surgery scheduled today 12/2/24 for 4:15. Was told to arrive at 3:15. Also due to the sedation I was not allowed to eat anything all day. And if I wanted to eat something would have to wake up and do so before 6am in case they needed to move my apt up. So I requested time off work, applied for Leave of Absence with my employer as I was going to be out for a minimum of 2 weeks. Starved myself all day. I got to the surgery center around 3:20pm as we were unclear on the location since it states vision surgery on the building. Upon entering there was no one in the reception and we felt very awkward standing in there looking into what looked like the clinic. A gal in scrubs came out to see what we needed and we explained being there for a surgery. She then closed the door after asking if we came from in town or out of town. She then came out and let us know that they were going to have to cancel our appointment and reschedule to the 17th of this month due to the anesthesiologist having a prior commitment that they had to get to and our surgery would run over that as the day has been running over. So, I starved myself all day, requested leave with my employer, and had to go through the hassle of the special showering instructions and worrying myself about this surgery for them just to cancel on me when I got there. Couldn't even give me a call to let me know this was going to happen. I honestly don't even feel secure having my surgery done here if they are this unprofessional and cannot manage their schedule and patients.

If I could give them a negative I would. Here's my experience: My 85 year old grandmother who has a broken knee due to her health is not a candidate to have surgery. Note that my grandma lives in Roseburg and I travel from Medford, for most of her appt (that's about 1.5 hour drive one way, oh and I work at a health center faculty myself). We are refereed and called to schedule an appointment for February 5th, 2020. On the 4th of Feb, I receive a call asking that I confirm the appt. On the 5th when I've arranged to have the day off, and am on the freeway and have arranged for another appt for my grandma my cell phone rings and it's one of the schedulers from the office explaining that the appt had to be canceled because a specific medication needed for my grandmas appt had not arrived as expected. Through the entire time in my mind I was wondering why in the world they didn't mention anything during our confirmation process and working in the medical field, I understand this kind of stuff happens, but why not be open and honest?? That part, I'm still having a hard time with. Anyway, coming from an understanding point, I ask when the medication will arrive and when can we reschedule her for: "We will have the medication here by this week and can reschedule her t WED FEB 12 at 2:00pm." I accepted the appt. On the 12th (which due to prior commitments and deadlines at work, I was unable to attend) my aunt took my grandmother to her appt. Only to show up and be told "she's not scheduled for an appointment and we do not have the medication". The manager DECLINED to schedule until they have the medication, which she has no idea when it will arrive. I'll leave it at that-and needless to say, my grandma won't be going back.
