Visited REX today to fix a hernia. All the nurses were extremely kind, patiënt, understanding and professional and helped explain everything to a newbie. Thanks for all your kindness and professionalism, Martha, Nancy, Dr Morse and Dr Shealy
I had a procedure there yesterday, and Dr Wheeler (surgeon) and Dr Gore (anesthesiologist) performed the surgery and kept me safe and comfortable the whole time. They are professional, straightforward, and very communicative! I want to also give a BIG shoutout to the nursing staff and the anesthesiology team as well; I am so sorry that neither I nor my husband wrote down your names 😣 Please forgive us, we were nervous, as this was the first time I had ever been under general anesthesia. Both teams of folks were just so caring, comforting, professional, and had amazing bedside manor. I found to easy to talk to and connect with staff, which helped me to worry less. You all are great and anyone whom you care for is truly getting the best! So again, thank you to the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and the amazing support staff at this location. While I hope to not have a surgery anytime soon, if I do, I hope to find myself in your care again. Thank you all SO much!
Ask for Ms Barbara great Preop nurse very kind hearted loving and she’s not loud she has a soft spoken voice. The facility is clean the registration ladies nice. The recovery nurse that was helping me get dress was rude I’m a patient trying to wake up from surgery and she’s rushing me to get dress ! Something I’ll never forget her words to me ! So the overall experience was some good some bad ! They either need more recovery nurses to help or something ! My recovery nurse Michelle was nice to me but seems like she was getting bossed around and trying to get to the next patient.
This is the most unprofessional facility I've received care from in the UNC system. The pre-op nurses barely obscured talking amongst themselves at their station about patients who were there at the same time I was (including discussing diagnoses and questioning the doctors' decisions for care), they lacked warmth or empathy in how they engaged patients, and generally seemed uninvested in their work as caregivers. My operative and post-op experiences were better, marginally. None of this experience is noted in UNC MyChart. No direct feedback survey was issued to report this behavior. Why is it affiliated with UNC if it doesn't function within the same parameters and standards as the greater entity? I truly hope I never have to go there again, and have reported this experience to my doctor. I give them 3 stars because the administration spent a lot of time talking with me about my experience, and seemed to be vested in correcting these concerns for the future.
I had an excellent experience at the Rex Surgery Center in Wakefield! All the staff, administrative and medical, were so kind and helpful. The intake coordinator, the nurses, the anesthesiologist and of course my surgeon, were all top notch. The facility was clean and easy to navigate.
