I was very impressed with the services at the Surgical and Endoscopy Center at Bergen County, which is the best way to start this review. The entire experience was great, largely due to the exceptional customer service from the staff in preparation of my Colonoscopy procedure. A major highlight for me was the outstanding cleanlinessâa definite 10/10. From the locker area and bathroom to the waiting area, everything was impeccably clean. Bravo to the maintenance team for ensuring such a comfortable and clean environment. Dr. Kutner was extremely punctual; I was in and out efficiently. The timeliness, from start to finish, was amazing. The only issue I experienced was during registration. I was mistakenly given someone elseâs personal information to review to confirm my identity. Given the importance of HIPAA, especially in my line of work, this is a serious concern. It is crucial to be careful with personal information, as not everyone is trustworthy, and I could have easily accessed all of the other person's details. I strongly advise the front desk staff to take their time during registration to ensure patients are reviewing only their correct information.
I was the last patient on New Year's Eve and everyone was ready to leave but nonetheless they still treated me courteously from the front desk staff to the nurses to the anesthesiologist to the operating room staff and last but not least Dr shami Thank you much...
I had an upper endoscopy today. Iâm 41 and have never needed to have anything like this so I was quite nervous. The nurses and doctors helped me feel at ease! It was a great nap đ
I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy today. The care I received from intake to discharge was outstanding. These wonderful people who worked today made me feel at ease. I wouldnât go anywhere else for these procedures. My doctor was Dr. Chhada from River Edge; I wish she was my doctor for everything I needed in life. Sheâs wonderful. Good luck to anyone going for a procedure here. Youâll do great!
Dr. Parikh's initial consultation was excellent, he was professional, thorough, and inspired confidence. Unfortunately, the rest of the facility did not live up to his standard and ended up reflecting very poorly on his practice. Our experience scheduling the procedure was frustrating and stressful from the start. Despite providing all necessary insurance information on 7/7 and requesting to move forward, the staff waited until the day before the procedure â after colon prep had already begun â to raise last-minute issues with insurance verification. Jennifer, the insurance verifier, was especially unhelpful. She insisted we pay $17,000 out-of-pocket, even after we explained there were seven pending insurance claims that would meet the deductible. Her refusal to listen and lack of understanding was deeply disappointing. When we asked if we should still come in (after completing the difficult and dehydrating colon prep and rearranging our work schedules), she told us to come in, only for us to be harassed in the waiting area over payment. There was no privacy; it felt like a public spectacle. The setup was unprofessional, and patients were discussed openly in front of others. To be told you canât proceed unless you pay a massive sum upfront, despite doing everything correctly on your end, is humiliating and inhumane. A manager, who did not give her name, only made the experience worse. Ultimately, I had to call and borrow $500 just to be seen, even though I knew the deductible would be met once the pending claims processed. This facility clearly prioritizes money over patient care. Had they informed us earlier, we could have rescheduled or sought alternatives, instead, we were backed into a corner with our health at risk. Needless to say, I wonât be coming here, and I no longer plan to have my husband seen here either. It's unfortunate because Dr. Parikh himself seems like a fantastic physician. But the officeâs administrative dysfunction, especially in insurance verification, completely overshadows that. A warning to future patients: If Jennifer is your point of contact, triple-check everything and prepare for last-minute surprises. And if youâre dealing with serious health concerns and uncertain coverage, this may not be the place to trust with your care.
