This practice is, by far, the most competent group of doctors I've come across. They treated me for multiple ear, nose, and throat related ailments. Other ENT's in the area seemed more interested in using me as a paycheck, where coastal ENT seemed genuinely interested in bettering my quality of life. I'm grateful to have found this practice.
I’ve had chronic sinus congestion for some time now. In recent years, it had been getting worse and about three years ago I decided to seek medical intervention. I could function during the day but could barely pass air through my nose at night. 4-5 hours of sleep was about all I could muster and that was taking its toll. I found a large ENT practice with an office in Shrewsbury and started there. More than two years and multiple visits later, including a $10k turbinate reduction surgery at Monmouth Medical, zero relief. It was as if I had never set foot in their office. I was angry that so much time and my insurance company’s money was wasted on ineffective treatments. I stumbled on Coastal ENT and started over with Dr Shargorodsky. He got right to the point with a CT scan to find out WHY I could breathe through my nose. Imagine that. The practice in Shrewsbury never even suggested such an investigatory step. I had septoplasty surgery a few weeks ago and while I’m still healing, I’m already experiencing dramatic improvements. I can breathe so much easier now and I’m actually getting eight hours of sleep every night! Anyone who has experienced chronic sleep deprivation can tell you that’s huge. My positive experience doesn’t stop with Dr Shargorodsky. Every member of the Coastal ENT staff was excellent, from the front desk people to the surgical coordinator, to the surgical team, they all impressed me as competent and professional every step of the way. That’s rare in my experience. If you have the need for an ENT provider, I strongly recommend Coastal ENT. My only regret is not finding them sooner.
I had a 3:00 PM appointment at Coastal Ear, Nose, and Throat. Due to unexpected traffic, I called the office exactly at 3:00 PM to let them know I was running a few minutes behind and would arrive around 3:15–3:17. They told me that up to 3:15 was acceptable, but after that I would have to reschedule. I arrived at 3:17 PM — literally two minutes past the cutoff. I genuinely understand that policies exist, but I had called at the appointment time, communicated everything clearly, and made every effort to get there as quickly as possible. In addition, I know from experience that I usually end up waiting close to an hour before the doctor comes in, so my arrival at 3:17 would not have disrupted anything. That’s why the way this was handled hit me so hard. After calling right at the appointment time, being completely transparent, and doing everything I could to show respect for their schedule, I was still turned away over two minutes. It felt incredibly dismissive. I wasn’t late because I didn’t care — I was stuck in traffic, I communicated clearly, and I still made it there as fast as possible. The reaction I received felt cold and entirely policy-driven, with zero willingness to look at the actual situation or the effort I made. It honestly felt dehumanizing. A tiny bit of compassion or flexibility would have made all the difference. Instead, I was treated as if I didn’t matter at all. I truly hope the office can approach situations like this with more empathy and basic human understanding in the future.
Go elsewhere, $50 fee if an emergency comes up and you need to push the appointment back an hour or reschedule. First doctor's office in my entire life to ever enforce this charge. Good way to lose business over clicking a few buttons on a screen
This was my 1st time going to an ENT (Ears Nose Throat) Doctor. The staff here at Coastal ENT were pleasant and got me through to registration process fairly quickly. I sat in the waiting area for maybe 5 minutes then I was called into the back where I'd be seen by the doctor. I gave the doc's assistant a run down of why I was there and then she said she'd be back with the doctor in a few mins. I waited only a few mins and then they both came in. The doctor assessed me and my situation and gave me a hopeful solution. In and out of Coastal in 20 mins tops. Oh, one more thing... I find their Patient Portal a huge help and very beneficial. Log on and set up your account. You do everything on there... set up or cancel appointments, see test results, diagnoses, prognosis, the doctor's notes, put in a request, see all of your patient info, and so much more!
