My mother experienced an array of questionable things with Scott McGuire and the Center. She was in good health before she had her colonoscopy. Immediately after the procedure she felt very sick. She had difficulty breathing, acid reflux, chest congestion with wheezing, dizziness, a terrible pain in her throat, spit up yellow mucus and was rushed out when she could barely walk. She was given the same anesthesia that killed Michael Jackson and was administered a breathing pump that is known to cause issues like this when her breathing went shallow under the anesthesia. This could have also been caused by negligent sanitary practices according to Google AI overview. They never labeled her urine sample. She also heard them mention that they had no idea who an abandoned urine sample they found in the bathroom belonged to. She had to walk through spilled IV fluid that was left uncleaned on the ground before her procedure. This afternoon she went to the ER and they said that she could develop pneumonia. She currently has a 99 degree fever and is still coughing wet coughs at 10pm when her procedure was in the morning. The anesthesiologist said that she probably came in already sick but she tested negative for viruses and Covid. She wasn’t notified that the pump was used until the ER called Scott’s office and questioned them. There are alternative methods of sedation and alternatives to the Jackson Rees breathing system. No post operation suggestions were made. Another review was left 8 years ago stating that a patient was told she couldn’t leave or have her procedure until all of the other patients had their procedures because they would have to sterilize their equipment due to her having an infection she was taking antibiotics for. This implies that they don’t clean their equipment.
The staff here put some calm into a very stressful event. Polite, personable, professional. They got me everything I needed on my way in and out. Also gave me a nice followup call the next day.
Had my first ever colonoscopy here yesterday and was *terrified*. Like, wild eyed freaking out. They took care of me every step of the way. They were respectful from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. My doctor ended up having a patient take a REALLY long time and set them back quite a bit in the schedule (I was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and didn't end up heading back to surgery til 1:45 p.m.) and they were great with communicating what was going on and apologizing for the wait. In spite of it being such an awful day for them, they were entirely in great spirits. By the time I was back in the operating room, I was in tears due to my extreme anxiety surrounding anesthesia. My younger sister died in the middle of surgery when she was 3 and it's freaked me out since. The anesthesiologist held my hand, literally dried my tears as they fell, and explained every step for me, even what she was injecting and why. The Dr. Francis McCormick was an absolute rockstar. It was my first time meeting him, I usually see his Nurse Practitioner, and he asked me about my history, explained what he was going to do, and then in 30 minutes, I was done. He came out once I was awake and coherent, explained to me the results and next step. Kindest man ever. It made what was already a scary time for me MUCH less scary and dreadful.
Not only does the anesthesia doctor NOT respect privacy- the post op nurse TJ has ZERO compassion and concern for others. Telling me when I quit crying she will help me. Wouldn’t get my family. Pathetic. Nurse who is supposedly helping with ortho cases was rude and hateful every phone call she ever made! Last procedure she ripped the pillow out from under my leg just harsh!! Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy !!
Just had a complex meniscus buckle handle tear full repair right knee done here. The staff was great, excellent and very clean. Dr Miller was excellent! Took my fear away and did great on my surgery. Day 4- hardly any pain and I am able to walk some and knee is bearing my weight!!! Can’t say enough good and I am not one to do any surgery unless I have no choice…
