Paid for a service that did nothing. 2 office visits less than 10 mins each - $475 per visit charged to insurance. Steroid Epidural - $8,100 charged to insurance. My out of pocket was around $2k. Follow up visit with doc was less than 5 mins and all he said was sorry we can't do anything more. That was a $475 visit.
Everyone’s story is different and everyone’s pain isn’t the same. My injury and experience hasn’t been the greatest, smoothest or ideal for that matter. I will say that Dr. Burfeind talked to me as person and treated me as a person. Anyone can read a chart, not everyone can read “you”! There were days I saw Dr. B with a smile, tears and overwhelming confusion but SHE helped me and gave me 100% of herself (not look at the time, ok bye!). Then there was Ms. Paula P. She didn’t just call to confirm an appointment, she asked how you were as well. She didn’t just return a message you left, she asked if you were ok and doing well on top of that. Ms. Paula helped me through a lot that may be hard to understand but sometimes a friendly voice, how was your day or I am here if you have anymore questions can ease the stress we bear. This may be just a ramble of a review but sometimes the heart speaks louder than words. Thank You Dr. B and Ms. Paula P…..THANK YOU for your kindness!
If this was the absolute last pain center in the universe and i needed something, i would just choose to walk off a cliff. If you care about your wellness, absolutely do not go here. The doctors couldn’t care less about the extreme pain you are in. My boyfriend was declining functionally every passing day and he couldn’t stand up straight, lie down, walk or stand for longer than a minute due to his injured back. The doctor spent a maximum of 5 minutes, and lifted my boyfriend’s legs to test how far it would go to which he visibly winced and cried out in pain. He said he needed an injection. After all that, we think okay, finally something to help. Turns out the injection is a month away. There is just no reasonable explanation for how any of these people here can examine and observe a patient in debilitating pain and decide treatment should de delayed as far out as they possibly can. Absolutely no alternative pain management strategies/advices were given to us to manage the difficulties for the ENTIRE month waiting for the injection. A simple “we cannot schedule you any earlier but we recommend trying other options because you need treatment sooner than this” would have helped. Not to mention the extremely rude receptionist. The attitude on that one was diabolical. It should be the responsibility of the healthcare provider to assess how soon said patient needs an intervention before irreversible damage. I cannot fathom how these providers expected a patient whose pain level was a 10, pain gradually getting worse each day to survive another month with the same signs they observed at his appointment. What a shameful excuse of an institution!!
If you're OK with a pain center that has a "Production Line" approach to treatment then this is the place for you! The only thing missing is a conveyor belt. Plus if you're OK with waiting on hold forever to make, change or cancel an appointment then you're a lot more patient than I am. Then once you get through purgatory on hold , you may or may not get an attitude from the recipionist, roll the dice!
Dr. Chaplick and Sara Oberlander are absolutely outstanding and really takes the time with you to get a better understanding of what your going through. I trust their advice and opinions and really appreciate Sara talking to you on a personal level and helping you navigate and understand things. They are truly great and I wouldn't go anywhere else. My grandmother sees someone else in the office and also always has great things to say. All around this office and staff truly care about their patients and take the time to help you.
