Anesthesia did not go over all meds that they might use on me. They neglected to tell me they would use an inter muscular anti nausea medication that left my leg the most painful thing for 24 hrs after my abdominal surgery and when I told the nurses I was told that I couldn’t sue because the forms sides are not that you agree to all the things you are informed of but of all the things they may deem necessary. When I shared this side effect when I received a follow up call the next day, I was again told why my leg hurt but was given no information about side effects. My leg is still sore two weeks later. The fact that they only cared that I couldn’t sue them and not about the fact that I was in shock and pain tells you a lot about this place.
On September 25, 2024, I went to the St. Clare Procedure Center for a small surgery with Dr. Levy and the team. Dr. Levy is a wonderful surgeon and doctor. It went well and everyone at the center was very nice, caring and professional. And I mean everyone! From the moment I walked through the door, Judi greeted us and made the admission process easy and fast. Wait time was minimal, everything was on schedule and on time. The building is clean and bright, and the private room/bathroom is a bonus. It is your home base, and everything is done for you there before and after surgery. No multi-person recovery room. Very safe. My pre-op nurse, Macii, was absolutely one of the nicest people I could have been blessed with that day. Very reassuring. My surgical team included Dr. Ferguson, Natalie and Brianna, very knowledgeable and again so nice and informative. ‘Thank you’ goes out to, Hayley, Emina, Merisa and Liz. St. Clare really goes out of their way to hire the best people professional people.
My mom was life flighted from Poplar Bluff to St. Clare ICU after having a brain aneurysm rupture which led to a stroke. The staff was so kind to me and my family. The nurses and doctors are some of the best I have ever seen. They really care about their patients. If anything ever happens to me that is the hospital I want to be at.
I was not informed that I would have to pay $1700 up front on the day of surgery. I was used to SSM’s procedure of allowing patients to pay later or setup payment plan. When I asked for my total to be billed because I could not pay this amount that day, another employee was sent in to bully me. She talked down to me, explain the meaning of a deductible and co-insurance, which was not the issue. I am very aware of the meaning of these things, but was just unaware that I would need to pay the large amount that day. This woman ultimately brought me to tears and treated me in a way that I hope no other person will have to experience. I have had to go through a few months of awful medical procedures and news that has affected my life and this employee made my process so much worse. Once I did go back to surgery, my heart rate was quite high because of my experience. If you are able to use a different surgery center, I would recommend finding somewhere else.
I have not even had my procedure yet and am unsure of this place. I have called everyday this week to let the nurses line know that when they call me back for my presurgery questions I need them to contact me before 9:30 am. They always call me after 10 a.m. It is now less than 24 hours until my appointment and the front desk person "left a message with a nurse." I have medical conditions that require medications and I can not get ahold of an employee that can tell me what to do before my surgery. This is neglectful and could push back my surgery if I do not get ahold of someone soon.
