The surgery staff (Drs and Nurses) were all great but their desk and billing staff leaves much to be desired. Every cancellation meant my appt got moved up with little to no notice which was very inconvenient. Then I needed to set up a payment arrangement and left two messages and neither messages were returned. The day of service the billing woman treated me like a huge inconvenience because I couldn’t pay the entire balance in full. The second appt, I had the arrangement set up and despite my appt moving up a couple times everything went well. That is until my EOB and bill didn’t match up. I had to call and cancel my payment arrangement and talked to someone who had no idea what to do about the discrepancy between EOB and bill. I received a call back a week later and was told that we could give it time to see if they would receive a new EOB so I should hold off on paying. Then today I get a letter from a collections agency just two weeks before I’m supposed to close on a new home!!! The communication with the billing staff was not friendly and I was treated like a waste of their time.

Woke up in high pain - bad pain management. Been there 4 different times, in general, the nurses' attitude seems to be pretty indifferent. Sort of like "you're on your own." Do not like being wheeled into surgery when elsewhere I could walk in - a more empowering approach. I hope to never go back there. Check out the bills - unbelievable Surgery Center fees as opposed to the surgeon.

The staff and medical professionals at the Surgery Center are 2nd to none! I was treated with kindness and compassion from the moment I walked through the door. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and answered all of my questions. The medical professionals were thorough and engaging and I felt like I was treated with importance. You can have full confidence in their ability to take great of you during your outpatient procedure too!

My Ophthalmologist is the best of the best! The medical staff were all phenomenal. But the receptionist and office manager are seriously lacking in customer service skills. I was told they took a credit card I often use and I went to pay and was told no. My son had come with me so he paid after leaving us standing there with no offer of solutions. The Office Manager called me today and said no one who works there would have ever told me they accept Care Credit. She brought my doctor’s office into it and they are a totally separate entity and had been paid. I asked today, after my surgery what would have happened if my son hadn’t paid. She said they would have sent me home or offered me the cheaper lense my insurance would have paid for. The receptionist left us standing there to “see what we could come up with”. This is horrible customer service. Their website says they accept checks, cash and various credit cards. I wonder if any of that is true? A big zero for pathetic customer service!

I was a huge fan of the Surgery Center of Kalamazoo in Portage Mi until yesterday when I was was treated in a rude manner by one of the front desk admissions ladies (the other was very nice) I was told to be there at 6:15 for a 7:30 scheduled knee surgery. I arrived at 6:10 and had to stand outside because the doors were locked and I could see employees inside. A front desk employee unlocked the door without a greeting and rudely told me to stand at counter and wait. She came back five minutes later and asked for my insurance card and credit card. She never returned my credit card and when the nurse came to prep me I had to go back and ask for it and it was handed to me without an apology. I never write bad reviews but I want to help other patients who are nervous about surgery and probably in pain to be treated with kindness instead of the way I was treated. The nurses and doctors were all amazing and friendly and receive a five star rating from me however the front desk needs assistance in providing friendly and compassionate care to all patients.
