I saw Dr.Powers and he was great! I had a quick and easy procedure that was done in the office same day. The procedure was pain free, he was very informative, and before the appointment was over he made sure I understood the post up instructions. Dr.Powers was very fast but attentive. I recommend him for podiatry needs!!

Found Dr. Christopher Powers on ZocDoc and had a procedure on 1/22/2026 to remove a piece of glass that had been embedded in my foot for 15 years. His bedside manner was polite and friendly, and the procedure itself took about 10 minutes. But when the numbing medication wore off, I was in significant pain. The incision was on the load-bearing part of my foot, and I had to walk on the ball of my foot just to get around. I tried wearing a boot and other supportive shoes, but nothing worked due to where the incision was placed. On 1/26, I left a voicemail requesting two things: a short-term work-from-home note for the week (because of icy sidewalks and my fear of slipping while walking to the Metro), and prescription pain medication, since over-the-counter meds were no longer working. My employer had already approved telework if I had a doctor’s note. Later that day, a staff member called me back and said the doctor denied both requests. The reason? “I’VE DONE THIS SAME PROCEDURE ON CHILDREN AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RETURN TO SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY.” I was stunned. I’m a 57-year-old adult. How could a doctor compare my recovery, pain, and safety to that of a child? Pediatric medicine exists for a reason — children’s bodies are different. What happened to individualized treatment? Denying pain medication and a basic work accommodation without even speaking to me or assessing my condition was shocking. I asked what I should do if I had an infection, and the staff member simply told me the office was closed until 1/28 — no offer of follow-up, no guidance, and no return call from the doctor. I can’t believe a doctor would handle follow-up care this way. This experience left me feeling like a number. Once the procedure was done and insurance was billed, I felt completely forgotten. If you’re looking for good follow-up or compassionate care, I would not recommend this doctor

Dr. Lakner and his staff were Pleasant, however, it felt like my visit was contrived and a generic treatment . After being informed The solution to my problem was to have custom orthotics I was fitted for, they would be covered at 100%, I agreed to the treatment. I was called by the office two weeks later, as stated. At that time, the office stated my insurance had not gone through yet and the cost would be over $1000. I stated that they should call me when the insurance coverage was applied soon after,I received a bill for over $1000, which did cause some distress. They continued to call. I called and informed the staff that I would not be coming until the balance reflected what was told over the phone by his staff. Coverage at 100%. I continued to receive calls to pick up my orthotics without Adequate coverage. They kept calling and acting as if I was going to come pick them up; that was in May/june 2025. I still have not heard word that The insurance issue has been worked out and it is mid September. I absolutely feel as if I was scammed and told the same thing everybody else is told, that I need orthotics and They are covered at 100% …and the expectation that I would just pay out of pocket was clear. I very much felt scammed by this doctor and Office.

The first draft of this review gave a detailed account of my experience with this practice, to include the convenience of its location, the doctor’s bedside manner, etc. I’ve edited all that out because the bottom line is this: I will not return to this practice due to the egregiously unprofessional treatment I was subjected to by Destiny (staff). Poor customer service is not uncommon and is often successfully corrected by intensive training. However, Destiny’s behavior displayed a lack of common sense, which is not so easily corrected. Any mature (grown) person working in a professional office should know better than to insult their patient/customer/patron. The insult elevated her already rude demeanor and unprofessional behavior to an unwarranted level of disrespect that shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone - certainly not a patient seeking treatment from their doctor’s office. To make matters worse, Destiny supposedly forwarded my concerns and complaint about pain in my toe to the doctor directly. Although Destiny informed me that he would contact me “when he can”, I have yet to receive any contact after more than 2 business days and a second call to the office on the next day. As I mentioned to Courtney on that second call to the office, I don’t patronize any business - nor any doctor’s office, especially - that abuses their patients. There are simply too many other qualified podiatrists in the vicinity to accept being spoken to like trash by the staff. In fact, I had an appointment with one today who was attentive, responsive, patiently answered all my questions and most importantly, she was thorough. She took a specimen of the nail to be sent off to the lab for testing, cleaned up my feet and sent me home with medicine to address the nail, not just the skin - none of which total foot care bothered to do. And the cherry on top, the staff was equally as kind and capable. Considering all of that, why would I want to return to Total Foot Care to be mistreated by Destiny and ignored by the doctor even after saying I’m in pain? My suggestion is that everyone see Dr. Patricia Schultz in Silver Spring - top notch experience there.
