You have to laugh....how can i best describe this place and try to be fair....it's like the "pep boys" of podiatry, bit of a conveyor belt. I had a corn removed...only missed the corn once, a band aid fixed the bleeding....they will always offer you a list of crap with every appointment (brace, crutches, sandpaper, corn plasters....cigarettes - the last one is a joke). The MA offered me the purchase of a brick sized temu scrub pad so i could rub the corn down myself at home....how am i supposed to fit it between my toes...(blank expression). More recently my daughter had a fracture....first appointment was good....did an x-ray, sold us a brace. Second appointment bit of a joke...made us do all the forms again, podiatrist really didn't have a clue what was going on....articulated her ankle, daughter responded "that not where the fracture is"....the response was "but they are all connected" (very mystical) we were peeing ourselves laughing (wife is a medical professional). Then they sold us an ankle brace (can you spot the trend?). So in summary 1) we cant be bothered to keep records so fill the forms out each time then we will just wing the diagnosis and treatment 2) we evidently make most of our money from slinging CVS items 3) getting you to make follow-up appointments is central to our mission (see point 1, rinse and repeat). It will be a cold day in Tuscon before i schedule surgery here. Hmmm...are all these reviews real....i think i'll do some digging, generate some graphs. challenge accepted.

Was a patient for approx 2 years, with fairly regular ankle/foot pain. My left ankle finally started to look “collapsed,” I was placed in a boot, told to get an MRI that would need approval, given no instruction on said MRI until I called back to see if I was approved and could schedule it and was told I could have scheduled the day of my last appt., 2 total months in the boot, zero improvement in status of ankle or pain. After the MRI I was told there was nothing major wrong (the appearance that something was very wrong was pointed out by multiple people who are not medical professionals), I chose to get a second opinion and immediately after a couple X-Rays was told my talus bone was out of place. I could have had surgery to repair this 3 years ago had it been caught, and saved a lot of money for all of the braces etc that were given. Please seek other opinions for major issues; ingrown toenail, stress fractures etc recovered fine when diagnosed but a major issue was missed that is very visible to an untrained eye on the MRI, and I no longer trust the care in this facility.

Finally Seen, Heard, and Healed – A 5-Star Experience with Frederick Foot & Ankle After battling a rare and painful condition called retronychia for over two and a half years, I finally found the care I needed at Frederick Foot & Ankle in Frederick, MD—and I cannot say enough good things about my experience. Retronychia happens when a new toenail begins growing beneath a damaged one that has disconnected from the growth plate. It’s agonizing and often misunderstood. I suspected the condition began after the birth of my first child, due to postpartum nail growth changes, but a podiatrist in Mount Airy dismissed my self-diagnosis. I tried to believe her, but deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. The issue persisted, then flared up again—worse—after the birth of my second baby, affecting both big toes and introducing even more complications. When I realized a third nail was pushing through on one foot, I knew it was finally time to seek real help. I searched for a podiatrist this time, not a pediatrician—and Frederick Foot & Ankle popped up with over 1,100 glowing reviews and a 4.9+ star rating. I trusted the reviews and booked—and wow, I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in with my 5-month-old on my hip, I was treated with genuine kindness and care. The front desk staff greeted us warmly, doted on my daughter, and made me feel right at home. Caitlin, one of the assistants, brought me back, got me situated, and listened attentively as I explained my symptoms and suspected diagnosis. She didn’t dismiss me—she asked thoughtful questions and treated me with respect and curiosity. Then Dr. Nikki Ho came in. She greeted my baby with warmth and listened carefully to my experience. After a quick look, she asked, “Would you like me to take care of this today?” Cue panic—but also relief. I had questions, concerns, hesitation. I had a baby on my lap and a life to juggle. But Dr. Ho and her team approached everything with such calm, capable empathy that I knew I was in the right hands. They adjusted everything to accommodate me—from extra staff ready to help with the baby, to a support person gently smacked my opposite leg repeatedly as a distraction technique (which actually worked brilliantly). The numbing went smoothly (not gonna lie, I squealed like a true wimp, lol), and once I was numb, Dr. Ho got to work and within minutes, the nail was removed. So quick and easy! Every single question I asked—before, during, and after—was answered with patience and care. Caitlin dressed the wound, walked me through aftercare (twice, because I was in mom-brain overload), and offered to help me to my car. I was given clear pain management instructions, and felt truly cared for—not rushed, not brushed off, not talked down to. Dr. Ho also made the wise decision to remove just one nail for now, explaining that everyone tolerates pain differently, and two at once would make recovery harder. I’m so glad she did—it’s been uncomfortable, but not painful, and I’m able to manage daily life without issue. Oh—and the cost? Thanks to my met deductible, the procedure was incredibly affordable. Truly amazing care, at such a low out-of-pocket price, is something I didn’t think existed anymore. I’ll be going back in a few weeks for the second toe. And yes—it was wild to have a toenail removed with a baby on my lap, but somehow, the team made it completely doable and even comforting. If you’re dealing with foot or nail issues—especially something unusual—do not hesitate to go to Frederick Foot & Ankle. Dr. Nikki Ho is thorough, compassionate, and incredibly skilled. I finally feel hopeful about healing and having healthy feet again.

The front desk personnel were very friendly and prompt. The intake tech was very thorough and professional in preparing me and setting everything up (including x-rays) for the doctor. Dr. Yanes was extremely well versed, and attentive to my needs as she laid out a plan for the overall health of my feet and ankles.
