Phantasmal Twilight

I went in on Friday morning feeling really nervous and honestly a bit scared. I had seen and read so many stories online about people going in for endoscopies and colonoscopies that I started to believe something would go wrong for me too. Even while filling out the waivers, I had that thought in the back of my mind. Thankfully, none of those fears came true. Marianna, the nurse who took care of me, was truly amazing. From the start she made me feel calmer and reassured me in such a kind and gentle way. She told me that what you see online are just other people’s experiences and that it was okay to shut all of that out and focus on my own. She took the time to talk with me before the procedure, even chatting about our pets, which helped distract me and made me feel more comfortable. She also promised to help me afterward since I was considered a fall risk, and just knowing she would be there made me feel safe. The procedure itself was quick, about twenty minutes, and everything went smoothly. When it was over, Marianna was right by my side, making sure I was safe and taken care of. Her kindness and attentiveness meant so much to me at that moment. This ended up being one of the best hospital experiences I have had in a very long time. I am so thankful for Marianna and the entire staff who helped me that day. Their compassion and care made all the difference, and I truly appreciate everything they did for me.
