I had 3 procedures here and within weeks of each other they all came at the same time for a total of $1,300. They have the option to make payments , when you open the email the 3 amounts for each surgery is posted. You check the boxes for what you want to pay. I click all the boxes and have been making 1-2 payments a month. They have called me several times harassing me asking me for payments . I tell them I made a payment and they want proof?!? I’m sorry idiot but isn’t the screen in front of your face ???? Now they sent me to collections , which I will be calling them and unloading my wrath on them for sure . They are the worst . Avoid this place like the plague!!!
I went to a Dr. from Rush Ophthalmology for cataract surgery. It took 2 months to get a date booked. Complete scam when it comes to where she operates. You think you’ll be at Rush. But at the last minute they tell you to arrive at a sleazy old “surgical” center on Touhy in Lincolnwood. This center. It’s a “cataract factory”. 3 doctors doing 10 or more surgeries a day renting 3 beds each. It had a leaderboard on the wall like an airline telling waiting room where each patient was. Pre-opp filled to the brim. Stacked like planes at LaGuardia. I was number 10 for this doc. I waited over 90 minutes and watched the room, hearing the people on phones saying they’ve been waiting 4 hours for a loved one to reappear. After getting short shrift by front desk personnel I waited 90 minutes and well past my scheduled surgery time. Then left. Was told surgery center was “cheaper” than hospital. For who? They collect from Medicare then perform in a low end clinic that operates like an assembly line. No thanks.
Did not receive a call with a time or instructions the day before my first surgery. Started calling at 3:00p to get the info and nobody answered the phone even though they are supposed to be open until 4:00p, I finally found out the info the next morning one hour before my surgery when I called them at 7:00a Customer service does not exist. I have been calling billing for over a week and nobody answers the phone. If you leave a voicemail it is not returned. I went in and the woman at the front desk told me that my request can only be handled by billing. I told her that they do not answer the phone or return voicemails and her response was “they’re at a different location”! What does that have to do with them picking up the phone or returning a voicemail???
service was OK except having to arrive over an hour before patient is brought back for surgery. Half the time I calledthere received a message "call cannot be completed at this time". Then calls pickup and hangup, then no answer. Also billing is absolutey horrible (through a third party). Demanded payment prior to surgery. Only received a reciept, no detail. Ended up overpaying per my insurance and made 20+ calls to get it resolved. No answers, no returned calls when messages left. Finally reached someone - then 6-8 weeks wait for a refund.
Billing has been a nightmare here. I have had 2 IVF procedures here within 3 years. Between procedures, I had switched both house address and insurance coverage. The center did not take the time to confirm new information with me, but because this location was booked through my fertility doctor, I wrongly assumed they had passed along all related contact and insurance info. They did collect my new insurance card when I checked in, yet charged me a price based on my old insurance (I had assumed since I just provided my new card to them, the payment was based on my current insurance). Only after paying, they handed me forms to fill out and at this point I saw all the outdated information on the forms. I went to correct this at the front desk and ask if I wad charged based on my current or old information, and they said the old. They informed me the person in charge of handling insurance was not in the building the day of my procedure so there was nothing they could do to help me. I was told I would be given a call the following day to sort out details and receive a potential refund once they processed everything with my correct insurance. Not only did I never receive a phone call, but it took me multiple calls over several days to even get in touch with someone. It has been over a month, and we are still going back and forth to get a refund based on their error. Everytime we call back, they are still providing us with the outdated address, etc. even though we have corrected them multiple times. They have said we will get a refund, but it has been weeks with no update, and everytime we call we have to start over with basic information. While the surgical center itself and the nursing staff was really great, dealing with their clerical errors has been a nightmare.
