I had a procedure (septoplasty for deviated septum) done by Dr Michael I Dougherty of ENT Specialists of Illinois a few days ago, and so far I am pretty happy with the overall experience at the facility. I know a main concern with most seems to be the facility billing upfront, which I also found weird, however, when I informed my insurance company, they said it isn’t uncommon for billing to occur beforehand. That being said, I paid the bill the day of the visit. Check in went smoothly, and I was shortly after brought into the pre-op area by Nurse Drei (I believe that is the spelling of his name). The area was not quite as I expected, as it was 7 beds relatively close together separated by curtains. I became skeptical and confirmed with Nurse Drei the surgery wouldn’t be happening there, as I would have walked away in a heartbeat. He confirmed it is just where I would get situated in the bed and be wheeled away to the surgery room. I changed into the gown and Nurse Drei started the IV (in my hand) without issues (not a fan of needles and I haven’t had surgery so I was on edge already). My doctor and the anesthesiologist came to speak with me for a moment, and I was then wheeled back into the surgery room. The anesthesia took effect pretty quick! The last thing I remember was being bundled in the blanket on the bed and being asked where I would want to be (I said Cancun of course), and I was out! The next thing I remember, is I was waking up (incredibly groggy and confused) in the post-op recovery room, with quite the soreness around my nose area. I was given juice and water and recovered for a little bit, and then I was sent on my way home. Besides the general soreness throughout my nose and face, my bleeding ended after my first day/night, and I am going on day 4 at a good recovery pace. Overall, good experience with the Doctor, the facility, and all the staff, coming from someone with no prior surgery facility experience.

What a scam of a place. I scheduled my surgery and they tried to charge me a large deposit just to schedule (I pushed back and they said “oh, nevermind”). Then, I couldn’t get transparent information of what services would be billed based on my procedure, what my insurance covers, and what my responsibility would be. And that is with ny deductible met! They were trying to bill me for services before even running my insurance. I cancelled my surgery because I don’t feel comfortable doing business with a medical center that doesn’t have a moral compass. Who pays up front for a surgery before insurance is billed? Not me.

I've had great experiences both times I've been here. Receptionist is friendly and professional, and the medical staff, everyone from Pre-op to Recovery has been absolutely great. Thank you to Karen in pre-op and Kim in Recovery, you two made me feel so comfortable and cared for. Much appreciated!

I had the best experience possible—- from the intake to every single nurse and helping hand… and of course the anesthesiologist Dr. Patterson and Dr. Kochar! I am impressed with the entire process. Everything was so well organized, thorough, comforting and everyone was super compassionate. Can’t say enough good things. I look forward to my recovery and I hope to never go there again. But if I do- I am confident I’m in GREAT hands with competent and caring individuals! Thank you again and again! Quality healthcare 💖

My son didn’t even have his surgery yet and the place REQUIRED payment of almost $2k prior without even submitting to insurance. My insurance company even told me not to pay as the claim should happen after and they collect payments before actual procedure. And it’s not a co pay but literally $2k without even knowing how much it will be. Such a scam and reading all review tha people have issues with getting their money back after claims. We Definetly canceled and would never recommend. Stay away!!
