I have been going to N. Idaho Eye for over 20 years also many family members. I have been always treated professionally by the Doctors and staff . The only problem I have had lately has been with scheduling. They need to have more training for the different needs in some procedures.
I had problems here and would recommend to family and friends to go elsewhere. If you go through this place and have absolutely no problems, you are probably going to be fine. But if you have a problem you are treated with disdain. I was told after surgery I had fought the operation every step of the way. I was sedated. My eye was sedated. I was strapped to a chair, how could I fight it? After that I told my doctor that I had floating bubbles in my eyes. I could not see well. Her response was "We have had no complaints and no malfunctions." The surgery staff here are wonderful but overall I think the doctors don't care about individuals. They do about 35 surgeries a day and it seems to be all about the money, not service. If you call their phone to put in a complaint, no one will ever call you back. Be careful. It is your eyes and if you have any problems, you are slowing them down and they are not nice about it, at least the lady doctor I had was very rude about it. So, I went elsewhere and am being treated by a caring eye doctor who told me the problems I'm having are not my fault. It's your eyes, go someplace else where they care about you as a patient. In the long run, my eyes are worse now than when I went in for cataract surgery.
From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable. They were friendly, professional, and very efficient in handling all the paperwork. Dr. Calderwood was fantastic—very thorough and took the time to explain everything clearly. Teresa is great. She makes all of the tedious tests comfortable and fun. Overall, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional, and I felt well taken care of from start to finish. I highly recommend Dr. Calderwood and the staff at North Idaho Eye Institute!
I went in just seeking knowledge about LASIK and if I’d even be a viable candidate. They were upfront, honest, and so helpful. I mostly spoke with Heather and loved not only how knowledgeable she and everyone I spoke with are but also that they will not give you fluff. If they feel it will do more damage they will be honest. You only get sight once. They do not push you. They didn’t even charge me until I had my actual surgery. Absolutely amazing group to work with and would encourage anyone and everyone to come here for any eye care needs.
I had a few strange issues going on with one of my eyes and it concerned me. I went online and booked an appointment through the portal. The next morning a very nice, kind lady called me and booked the first available appointment, when we hung up, I felt like I was saying goodbye to a long lost friend! Additional information was send by text and email so I could make the wait as short as possible and assist their staff in getting me in quickly. This worked well, the check in was seamless. Once at the appointment, the staff was very kind, professional and personal. I was in and out in exactly one hour from start to finish. The staff took very good care of me, asked lots of questions, performed a lot of tests and had me ready to see the doctor. Once I saw the doctor he assured me my eyes are good and talked me through possible issues that could be causing the issue. This was a very good experience and I am actually looking forward to my follow up visit.
