I just had a horrible experience at this center. Upon awakening, I was met with an incredibly belligerent staff. It just persisted and persisted to the point where they acted the same way toward the person picking me up. Because I mentioned I had a car - and “yes” I was NOT going to drive after the procedure! Everyone seemed stressed and generally unhappy with life. Who needs that??? Then, they had the person picking me up sit in the waiting area for over a half hour with no attendant while they told me they couldn’t get in touch with him. Worried me sick! They forced me to sit unnecessarily on the side and wait while my contact was just feet away.
Their billing website does not work and there is no alternative way to get in contact with them after their work hours. Phone line does not allow voicemails, there is no email or contact form on their website available either. Do they want to be paid?
I am sharing the experience of my mother-in-law, Paula Torres, at The Endoscopy Center because she doesn't speak English and cannot read or write. During a routine upper endoscopy/colonoscopy the doctor perforated her colon. They ignored her when she complained of discomfort after the procedure. She ended up in Intensive Care for weeks, and had to wear a "poopbag" on her side for months.
Very poor communication. If you are keen on chasing after test results and follow up appointments while waiting on hold for hours, this is the place for you! My regular screening identified problems, but I didn't know for two months as they never contacted me. Now that I require further follow up, I've been calling them to get that scheduled I can never accomplish my objectives in a single call and calls always include at least 30 minutes of holding.
After a horrible experience with Dr. Agrawal at GW I was able to get in with Dr. Bolen at the Endoscopy Center of DC for a pre-colonoscopy exam. Dr. Okieffe performed the endoscopy and colonoscopy today and I must say, that place is so well managed. Clean, efficient, patient and the nurses have a wonderful bedside manner. This is what medicine practices should be like. I hate the medical industry because it's all about feeding the pharmaceutical industry and doctors don't seem to care about patients anymore. I cannot say they the doctors here were super warm and fuzzy but they were nice enough and professional. More importantly, they seemed to treat everyone the same. My procedures went fast and safely. I had a lot of anxiety about this process but they certainly helped with that by handling the process so well.
