Called the Gift shop and a lovely and super sweet girl named Emily helped me pick out a gift (Flowers) for my Grandma who is in their care and it was the easiest and very quick call to get a special gift sent to her while she is recovering from a surgery. Thank you Emily for making it happen!
I won’t go into the ER services here, being a separate issue, but the Scripps BILLING department, as I found last week, has a pervasive culture of unprofessionalism and gaslighting. Considering that we are high-value patients and that Scripps has already received payments in the six figures $$$,$$$ for our visits over the last couple of years, I called to offer a settlement on 1 open balance. The first rep, Marquita, was polite , but the matter was over her limit so I requested to talk to her manager. Manager Claudia told Marquita to tell me that she would definitely call me back in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later, no call from Claudia. I called back and encountered CHRISTY, who was not only DISRESPECTFUL, DISMISSIVE, AND COMBATIVE, but worst of all, tried to egregiously GASLIGHT me multiple times: 1st gaslighting attempt: DELIBERATE MISINFORMATION — "Claudia called you back, but you gave a bad number,” while she was STARING AT THE CALLER ID with the very same phone number I gave to Claudia. 2nd gaslighting attempt: VERIFICATION SABOTAGE— This is Gaslighting in its purest form! This Christy was using this common stonewalling tactic repeatedly to deny me service by lying to me that "the phone numbers in the billing system were not any phone numbers I gave her.” I was staring at my account profile, and all my phone numbers are all listed correctly. Further unprofessional conduct: INFINITE HOLD — She proceeded to employ another common tactic to put me on hold and NEVER returned. I called back the 3rd time and spoke to Tod B., who was courteous and took notes as I requested to document the information for escalation. He confirmed my number shown on the caller ID matched the information in his system, directly contradicting Christy’s lies. However, as I was talking, my call mysteriously disconnected. ** California law SB 1061 no longer allows medical providers to report their supposed debts to the credit bureaus, and I CALLED TO OFFER PAYMENT, after they already received $8,200+ for a visit. Guess they really don’t want my money.
I don’t agree with the 3.5 rating. This is owned by a hospital major, yet it has the sensibility of a small town or country hospital. All the advanced technology is there but the friendly staff is not condesending like a larger institution. If you are shy or mild mannered, Scripps in Encinitas is likely to be for you.
I hurt my foot and went to Scripps Nov 1st. I was very touched by the level of care I received. Joey the nurse who took care of me was so caring and made sure I was comfortable. Also the two EMT’s who were so very attentive. I had to wait for a long time in the ER but it was worth it. I went from Oceanside because I was told that it’s a good hospital.
The nursing staff was awesome! Very attentive and listened to me when I was in pain and always very nice! The physicians were very good and knowledgeable....the room was pretty cramped and dingy but I'm guessing the hospital puts their money into their staff so I can overlook the small quarters:)
