Warning: Avoid. I underwent a procedure here last summer to repair a hernia. I was given a high three-figure cost for my copay which I remitted in full on the day. I went to great lengths before the surgery to ensure that the cost quoted was correct, as after two years of limited work due to providing hospice care for two family members my savings were at a critical level. I was assured the sum was right, and I could just about afford it to lose the hernia pain. That money should have covered the center fee, doctor fee and anesthesiologist fee, but they refused to disburse it correctly for months as their billing department was waiting for some kind of insurance approval (even though everything was pre-authorized). I tried to chase it up and get at least an explanation, but despite repeated calls and voicemails left I heard nothing. In the end I paid the other fees myself, a further mid $$$ sum, to avoid more letters and calls from the unfairly-owed anesthesiologist and doc. Newport still owe me that money back. Then, more than three months after my procedure, I received another bill from Newport Surgical Center for an additional $400+ amount! Good faith estimation? No Surprises? Not here!!! They still didn't return messages, and I've now received a letter demanding immediate payment with threats of credit reporting (which is totally illegal in California). If I actually have to pay this invoice, which I'm currently disputing (and responsibility for which has been passed back and forth twice just today between different contactable agencies, and STILL I can't actually speak with anyone to resolve it and everyone just says 'not me'), I'll have paid more than 125% over and above the originally quoted procedure cost. If your physician wants to conduct your procedure here, my strongest possible recommendation is to decline and find alternative care. It's a shame, as the center nurses themselves were as lovely as you'd expect of those in their truly admirable profession, but their billing department is at best hopelessly disorganized and impossible to communicate with. As for at worst... well, draw your own conclusions.
I would rate this place a 0 if I could. When I walked into the lobby, there was a strong, unpleasant odor and a noticeable stain on the carpet, which made the space feel old and unclean. The parking situation was also difficult—the main lot was full, and the only available parking was far from the entrance, making it hard to even find the front door. The experience made me question whether I should continue with my scheduled procedure. For the price, I expected a much higher standard. Based on my visit, I do not feel this facility is suitable for surgeries.
Since i have called billing department multiple times in last 3 weeks with no one returning my calls. Can never get a live body. I have cancelled my payment plan with my bank as the amount set up is a lot more than what i am obligated to pay. If you want the remaining balance left then call me back and ill give it to you. It is ridiculous that no one every picks up the phone in billing nor returns my calls.
Classic use of an historical site, to service the public in surgical services.
This would be zero if google allowed it. The actual medical proceedure went fine but that’s where the good part of the experience ended. The billing process is terrible and at this point I honestly suspect fraudulent behavior. The bills provided are impossible for a laymen to understand and repeated contacts requesting clarity have gone unresponded to. Instead patients are just turned over to a collection agency called TCS. THIS ORGANIZATION IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. My wife and I were just yelled at by a representative from TCS. (Perhaps I expected too much that a representative of Newport Plaza Surgical Center would actually be able, let alone willing, to provide me information so I could compare their “bill” to the claims information I have downloaded from my insurance carrier). SHAME ON YOU NEWPORT PLAZA SURGICAL CENTER FOR TREATING YOUR PATIENTS THIS WAY!
